Comments on song "Akira Kurosawa"
Pimprenelle52 on October 06, 2009 So funny...! ;-) The idea of using names of great directors is really a
good idea. And I love the end of the song, when they go out of the tent
with the baby... Look at the village-chief's face!
Raj Hierodule on November 27, 2009 choreography is really stale---in selecting white gurls, i'd suggest select
hispanic gurls who all know how to move...butts---all the gurls looked
stiff--music was great but not the accessories

Eathroc on July 05, 2010 love this song
edwardshiro on September 04, 2010 @bengalirockachik I disagree with your comment. Certainly they're great
filmmakers. But I think this is a way to introduce them to new generations.
You think young people know Akira Kurosawa, for example? This video does
not make mockery or disrespectful to each of them. Bollywood was successful
in placing this issue in the film Chintu Ji. I am Venezuelan, and through
this video, I have known artists of India, known film directors. Here only
the name, nothing else.
edwardshiro on September 04, 2010 @bengalirockachik There is nothing wrong, If I were a teacher of art, put
this video to my students to investigate. With this music and seeing Sophie
Choudry dancing, my students would be highly motivated. Times change and we
must learn to teach in modernity.
bengalirockachik on September 05, 2010 I am a young person, I'm 21, lol and I know Kurosawa, Bergman, Fritz Lang, etc. But I suppose it's just me that is different b/c I do not watch Bollywood despite most of the Bangali girls my age who watch Bollywood religiously. I tried to introduce them to Taxi Driver & The Seven Samurai, but their eyes glaze over & boredom ensued. I like to analyze/study films and I'm sorry, but this is just very superficial - nothing allegorical, just a superficial attempt to be postmodern.
bengalirockachik on September 05, 2010 This just representss a lot of the superficiality that is present in modern day culture, at least where I live. The only people my age that I know who appreciate videos like this do not find any of those directors interesting. It reflects superficiality because it is precisely just naming names for the appearance of seeming well-read, but it is not doing anything interesting or artistic with the names. Literally spelled out names- no subtlety yet still, it hardly says anything.
Eathroc on October 15, 2010 @edwardshiro Great answer
avix007 on December 21, 2010 @bengalirockachik I completely agree with you. Most of the directors named
here are treasure troves to be discovered, enjoyed and assimilated, which
this laundry list will not aid in any way. How many members in the intended
audience would be able to (and willing to) extrapolate their efforts in
tracking down at least one masterpiece by the auteurs named here, I wonder.
avix007 on December 21, 2010 @bengalirockachik Oh, and another thing: I've only heard non-Bengali
Indians (as in this song) pronouncing Satyajit's last name as 'Ray' (the
English word), while most film buffs around the world take care to
pronounce it as 'Raay' (e.g. as Audrey Hepburn did while introducing his
receiving of the Oscar). Funny, in a sad way.
