क्या आप जानते है कि ज़ोहराबाई अम्बालेवाली का २१ फ़रवरी १९९० को लगभग ६८ वर्ष
की आयु में बम्बई में निधन हो गया। मृत्यु से मात्र एक माह पूर्व किसी
टेलीफ़िल्म के लिए जब उनके घर पर शूटींग्‍ की गई तो बड़ी ही मुश्किल से
उन्होंने दो लाइनें "अखियाँ मिलाके जिया भरमाके" गाकर सुनाईं थीं। A wonderful
singer ..a gifted person ... may her soul rest in peace ...

@mayaghose I am sure it is not Amir Bai but Zohra Bai. We used to listen to
this song in the film in cinema or its record on gramophone about 60 years
ago. I am seeing the video of the song on my laptop today.and liked it all
the more. Swarn Lata, on whom the song was picturized lived in our
neighborhood in Lahore as wife of Nazir. What amazing days were those.

How many times Lata Mangeshkar may sing this song but Zohrabai Ambalewali
has left an in depth impression on the mind that Lata can never erase.That
impact left on the mind by ZohrabaI.by her rich voice had a charm of its
own.Even by singing this song Lata does not have that richness in her voice
that Zohrabai had. One can easily make out the difference.I always feel
that people of that gone by era had much more to give and offer that people
of the present cannot match those people.
