Seriously, who hits the dislike button on something like this. I understand if you don't really care for opera, but I believe that every genre has something to offer and this is one of the best of all genres. I guess you can dislike it only if you don't like the sound of two notes one after the other.

This is the original. Franz Schubert wrote it for a translation of The Lady Of The Lake from Sir Walter Scott. The titel is actually Ellen's Dritter Gesang (Ellen's third song). The first of Ellen's song is known nowadays as Hail The Chief.
And it was not the official Catholic AveMaria prayer. The original starts with Hail Maria, that's all but the Catholics hijacked the melodie for their prayer. Smart move. It's a perfect combination but people should know the origins of that song.

That someone was the God who created you and me my friend. Thanks to Him we can listen to such beautiful symphonies and watch gorgeous sunsets. He gave us the air we breathe. As this song was being sung at our wedding, I placed a bouquet of flowers beneath the statue of Mary. So many weddings and funerals play this song, it is too beautiful to omit. When I need peace, I listen to it with closed eyes. God Bless all of you.
