Well crafted simple words that carry rich meaning - relevant even after
fifty seven years - inspirational song - atleast for me - have always
adored - think like humming whereever I be. Hats off to Sahir Ludhianvi and

i remember listening to it carefully in the afternoon vividh bharti
programme as a small school going child , in my maternal grandmother's
house during summer vacations . i was very impressed and since then have
always liked this song ! that memory has always stayed with me . sahir's
great poetic abilities can be visible once again in his portayal of social
problems . thank you for reviving old memories !

thank you ! i used to love listening to this touching song but had never
heard the last lines not sung by rafi which i came across for the first
time ! my wild guess is that the other singer is s d batish but i would
like some knowledgeable person to confirm as i am not very familiar with
his voice . rafi is perfect as usual !

Very interesting - I too had observed while viewing the clip - as you had
mentioned of S D Batish in the introduction I kept quiet - I am also coming
across it only today, and, totally ignorant about the singer - even the
lyrics book does not have these lines. Let us wait for resource person(s).

song as you. Regarding the last lines supposed to be sung by another music
director, S.D.Batish, it may be true...for it was customary in those days
for MDs to sing a few lines...and perhaps he was a friend of MD Madan Mohan
