What a rarest upload. Fantastic. This is my first time that I am watching
Amirbai otherwise I was a fan of her distinguished voice. I have no words
to praise this upload and honour your efforts.

@56riazali You are very welcome and thanks for commenting. Iam also a
die-hard fan of the nightingale of Karnataka. She was a great actress too.
In this film she played Suraiya's tormented (by her husband) mother and did
a great job. She sang 3 enchanting solos under veteran composer S D Burman.
I have uploaded all 3 songs, please view the other too and if possible

She touch your heart - cannot have enough of her. Thanks for uploading.
Vidur Sury on June 21, 2011
@mayaghose You are totally right. She started as a great singing star in
the 1930s and became the top playback singer of 1941 - 1947. Then, though
she continued playback, she did a couple of films again as a singing star!
She can never never ever be forgotten. Iam a die - hard fan of her.

I am seeing her for the first time on screen, though have read about her
movie career. Great singing as always. Thank you.

Thanks a lot for appreciating, glad you enjoyed. She has done some saintly
roles to excellence. She was a popular actress of 1930s too. Songs in which
she appears from Narsi Bhagat (1940), Prithvi Vallabh (1943) and Station
Master (1942) are uploaded on YouTube - you can enjoy those. Each song of
hers was sung with such panache, she was one of the best singers ever and
each song of hers is a classic.

Thank you for the positive response. I agree that she was one of the best
singers - I am familiar with some of her songs being heard on Radio Ceylon
and these are to my liking. Regards.

She contributed immensely in popularising playback by singing for several
top heroines like Mumtaz Shanti Ji, Vanmala Ji, Kamla Chaterjee Ji, Kamla
Kotnis Ji, Swarnalata Ji (pre - partition films), Mehtab Ji, Nargis Ji
(early films), Leela Desai Ji, Geeta Nizami Ji, Sulochana Chaterjee Ji,
Mumtaz Shanti Ji, Rehana Ji, Shamim Ji, Ramola Ji as well as Madhubala Ji
(Neki Aur Badi - 1949). She was one of the top most singers then.

The music provided by S.D.Burman has made this song byAmirbai Kamsrnataki
aimost immortal.I had heard only O,roothe huye Bhagwan tujhe kaisey
manaoon, in my childhood from the movie Sindoor,But later on I have been
hearing songs from films like Shehnai and have always felt that songs in
her voice are cathartic. Thanks Shri Vidusury for such excellent upioads.

Thanks for appreciation Sir, you are totally right. She sang with so much
feeling from the bottom of her heart, and conveyed emotions and expressions
so beautifully.
