Amazing shoot. We see the couple on 3 occasions, 2 seconds, 5 seconds and 2
seconds duration. The rest of the 3 min 36 sec song is water and stars and
boat-sail and great silhouette shots. On all the 3 times we see the couple,
the heroine's face is not see, it was most likely a body-double. Obviously
this was shot when MeenaKumari was had health issues. The completion of the
movie obviously needed great creativity!

@tomonna1 the movie took 15 yrs to make..the original hero was Dharmendra
with whom Meena Kumari was having an affair..within days of the beginning
of the shoot her husband(the director of this movie Kamal Amrohi) got whiff
of their intimacy and Dharamji was fired and replaced by Raaj Kumar. things
got very ugly between Meenaji and Kamal saab and the shoot was stalled for
years..it was during this period that this song was shot using a dummy
artist hence Meenaji`s face is not shown in this song.

No sammy sahab, not that Rafi did not sing bad songs. But yes, he was outstanding those words and music from those rotten songs were bad. Rafi sahab never said no and he is known to have encouraged a lot of new and young music directors and singers. But as regards this song, let us give wholesome tribute to the brilliant composer Ghulam Mohd. saheb a worthy pupil or Naushad sahab.for tbe beautiful composition and great and very simple words by Kaif Bhopali ji. there are two three songs where Rafi sings only the title words but stanzas are sung by his co-singers. One example is this, Rafi is just beautifully singing chalo dildar chalo and no stanzas. He also does alaap saying o oo also. Then in the song from C.I.D.of Dev Anand, Rafi again only sings Ankhon hi ankhon mein ishara hogaya, this shows his extremely accommodative spirit and sacrificing mind. He would integrate in any manner so that the song ultimately comes out brilliantly well.
