Ali is revered by both sunni and shia, but more by shia. Nusrat was shia.
Most sufi poetry is dedicated to Ali, because after all, sufism came from
Iran. In fact, the very word "sufi" is persian.

every religion,its another thing that people doesn't respect shia. Well i
do know about Nusrat Fateh Ali khan that he is shia but i dont know about
Data Gung baksh. well Allama Iqbal wasn't shia either but he wrote many

OFf Course Imam Ali(AS) close to Propphet(SAW) coz he is cousin of
RasullS(SAW).He is a family and son-in-law. After Muhammed(AS) is Imam
Ali(AS) he is Janesheen of Rasull(SAW). Well He is imam not Calipha. and
don't compare Imam Ali wid other Calipha Coz he is not a common person. He
belongs to Prophet(SAW)'s family. All the member of Ahlebait are special
and great. In this earth u can't find like Mola Ali(AS).Coz ALI is ALi no
