Listened to that song which you refered. But I think it's pretty different.
R.D. Burman was one of the most gifted music composers and he deserved all
the success which he got.. On another note, I feel Kishore Kumar was better
than Mohammad Rafi..

I agree that there are parts in the song which are not copied at all like the "Mustafa Mustafa" part has no resemblence to "Dekhta hoon.." anywhere, but you cannot deny that the intial part of both the songs sound very similar.

regarding plagiariasm - NOOO. This song does NOT sound anything like Ya
Mustafa, and frankly, I think if you hear any similarity even appraoching
such a thing you have no musical ear. The beginning of the song (Mustafa)
includes a flute.. I think some people can't tell the difference between
instruments & ornamentation - "eastern" sounds esp. To say such a thing is
equivalent to saying all "eastern" music sounds alike. The arrangements are
completely different also.
