This 1945 Anil Biswas classic rendered to song by my all-time favourite
Mukesh, the 'voice' of my other all-time favourite, the great Raj Kapoor.
Those were the days. I have not been to the cinema houses after these two
passed away.

May I make a little correction! Some friends are saying this was the first
song of Mukesh. NO it wasn't his first song, but YES first Playback song
for another actor (Moti Lal). Mukesh's first film song was in film Nirdosh
(1941), picturised on Mukesh himself. The song was `Dil hi Bujha hus ho to
Fasle bahar kya..."

This was a good start for Mukesh's carrier with a nice and graceful song in
the melodic sphere of the film industry. Nodoubt some people mistakenly
took this song as the voice of K.L.Sehgal , however "Gem is Gem" I always
appreciated this song too much even since from my childhood and have it now
in my collections of songs in India. Mukesh will remain immortal forever.

It is with great pleasure I listen this my most favourable song. I was in
Burma (Myanmar) WWII All of my friends used to listen this song once the
Phouzi Dilkhus used to entertain us. When I listen this song it takes me to
Burma jungle just when the wa r was over. So we came to Tangoon and enjoyeg
this picture at plladium Hall.
