Matthew Perry on November 01, 2012 Nice rendition! I loved it. Some points which I feel I need to point out:
1. The sarangi has to be played with much more precision- it sounded off at
many places. 2. The tablas need higher audio levels 3. The drummer
seriously needs to get his stuff together. He's not tight enough to
deservingly play for this lovely band.
Rohit Sarma on November 21, 2012 a musical instrument is not a machine it is not player with precision but
with feel
Matthew Perry on November 22, 2012 Rohit, I'm a musician myself. I understand the nuances of instruments and
music much better than you. While I agree with you that instruments are not
machines, you MUST keep in mind that they should be played with precision
owing to the fact that if they're not, they sound off key, or in Hindi it's
called "BE-SURA".
Rohit Sarma on November 23, 2012 i know what be sura is.we all have different opinions.i personally
believe, coming from a classical background myself that sohail yusuf is
absolutely brilliant.
Matthew Perry on November 26, 2012 No one's denying that, Rohit. Suhail is undoubtedly very talented. But I
feel that a little more precision in his playing would make him even
better. I know that the Sarangi being a fret-less instrument is difficult
to play totally in tune, but a little riyaz will go a long way. Don't you
agree? Which Gharana do you belong to and what are you trained in? I'm
trained in the Farukhabad Gharana of Tabla and have been playing the
instrument for 18 years now, apart from drums and other percussion :)
niceeee !!
