Timeless lyrics and awesome song..

thanks much

Do you have Mukesh's Nayan Hamare from the same movie?
maniyalath on November 13, 2008
Difficult to tell which is better- Anil Dhawan, Salil Chowdury, Kishore or the lyrics. Simply superb and mesmerizes me.
sds1943 on February 08, 2009
Salil composed some of his most formidable melodies in this film. Notice the complex chord progression in 'Guzar jaaye din' and the exquisite counterpoint of "Nain hamaare". Also, the unusual harmony in 'Champabati aja' and the unforgettable melody and rich orchestration in "Jiyaa laage naa". It is well known that it took Kishore a number of 'takes' before he could finally record "Guzar jaaye din" ! At least he did it.

Movie is very ordinary. Especially the terrible ending... but great songs.

salil-kishore was an amazing but highly underrated combo..look at this composition and try on keyboard..you will find how breathtaking the composition and vocal accomplishment is..
dadoobacha on January 21, 2010
fully agreed.Anndata includes one of Salil Da's finest works. Its a pity that due to the flop film the beautiful songs did not become so famous. But each song is an example of rich creativity in music composition.

oye sds Kishore is god and God never fails.so he had to do it
rajarshiuiuc on July 09, 2010
Actually in 1970 a bengali version of the song "chole je jaay din" was recorded by Shyamal Mitra for All India Radio. Also in 1990 Salil Chowdhury recorded the original bengali version of the song again but this time the singer was Arundhati Holme-Chowdhury. Unfortunately Arundhati's version is not even close to Kishore's version.

Such a beautiful song. And to think Kishore commented to Salil that the tune of the song was causing him to have nightmares to execute.. AWESOME!!!

@rajarshiuiuc thnx for the info; are the Bengali versionsm 1970's and 90's available in youtube? what a magical mixture western beat in this song, tremendously performed by KK; excellent orchestrastion of instrumental back-up; an absolute wonder created by Salil Chowdhuruy especially in this song, all the numbers are classic Salil tunes.

An exclusive melody by the great Salil Chowdhury; distinctive Salil style
is evident in this superb song sung beautifully by Kishore Kumar. Thanks

Very nice song , I clearly remember this song being cast in ' Chitramala
'programme of T.V. on 14/10/1987, The day after Kishore Kumar's departure
! equally nice is the Bengali version - 'Chole je jaay din din din, nupur
baaje ..' - Biswarup Roy , Kolkata .

Yes, I remember when they played this song on doordarshan just after it was
announced that Kishore Kumar had passed away.the shock...I hadn't heard
this song before and I was left marveling at the brilliance of KK. This
happens every other day even today.there will never be anyone like
Kishore-da.

so cool.
P.R. Dash on July 27, 2014
This is an amzing composition by Salil Da; KIshore's rendition is also
superb and one of his best songs. Ironically Kishore wanted to avoid
singing this song as he thought he could never sing it the way Salil Da
wanted him to sing. He completed this one after multiple takes and in the
end we have a gem of a creation. I do not blame today's singers; but don't
think anyone will hazard a try!!!
Shantanu Chakraborty on August 09, 2014
very difficult song composed by salil da and sung by kishore kumar very
perfect
firejoy19 on September 01, 2014
Annadata will always be remembered as Salil Da's film. However, my most
favorite amongst all singers has made this melody his own for all times to
come.
Shobha Nivas on December 28, 2014

mialvi9 on September 12, 2015
Every composition of Salil Chowdhury has his signature on it. This one is
among his best. The lyrics, too, have the distinct style of songwriter
Yogesh who always penned classy poetry. But the surprise of the song is
Kishore Kumar. This is not his typical tune (in fact, none of SC tunes was
typical for any singer) but he did full justice to it, making it a
memorable song. Extra marks to Asit Sen for filming it in a simple but
beautiful setting.
