WOW ! Thank you for this rare and outstanding composition and poetry.
Beautiful compilation of visuals!

@SJisBack Aurangzeb's quest to defeat Marathas along with rise of Sikhs
resulted in weakening Mughal empire and his successors were ineffectual
rulers. Mughals ultimately became subordinates to Maratha confederacy and
Peshwas(prime ministers). Then there was 3rd battle of Panipat ! That
decimated Marathas and British took control of India in early 19th century.
Rest is history !

@BharatGul Kavi Bhushan was a bard adulating Shivaji, he was obviously not
a historian. He was praising Shivaji with lot of liberties with facts and
exaggeration.

At the helm of this beautiful poetry of adulation for ShivaJi by an adoring
poet, Bhushan, I must say, not only am I thankful to enjoy such rare poetic
GEMS, but to get such a deep insight into the History of Maharashtra as
well, that I did not know much about 'before" discovering your powerhouse
of a channel on Marathi Culture, Music, Poetry & Literature! YOU, Sudhir,
ARE indeed, one of the Finest examples of a "TRUE" Maharashtrian! (I said
"one" of the...Non debatable! :) 20thFEB'2011. 6pmPST

@RituPMToMusic2011 I don't know about being "True Maharastrian". I have
some knowledge and education from 30 years ago about Marathi culture but it
is dated now. My allegiance is to all of India and now to USA. I am glad
that I have kindled some interest in the minds of those who are not
Maharastrians such as yourself and Bharatgul with my attempts at
translating the songs. "True Maharastrians" probably laugh at my pedestrian
efforts.

@SJisBack I feel sad sometimes to notice how little we know of each others
cultures and history in India.

@SJisBack; I feel sad sometimes to notice how little we know of each others
cultures and history in India" Don't. :) My sweet pa felt the same way
about "his" state of Uttarakhand & told me to continue to learn about,
explore, promote, as much as I could, in my small ways, of the beauty, rich
culture, history, anthropological & environmental past of that Himalayan
State, along with that of other States of India, even if I lived in US!
You're doing your part well, Sudhir. :) I'll try! 20FEB11'

@SJisBack iagree sir that we know very little about each others' cultures
in india but most of us also hardly know about our own culture ! if you ask
me,after viewing your channel regularly since you started it ,i think i
know about it more than i do about mine ! but i always love your uploads
with the added bonus of the discussions which take place on your channel
which are interesting and knowledgeable. there is a lot to learn from them
besides enjoying music .makes your channel unique.thnx.

@SJisBack I wouldn't call your translations "pedestrian." They seem quite
painstaking and successful to me.Translators like us always struggle over
nuances and expressions. An Indian monk who translated Buddhist sutras into
Chinese in the medieval era likened the project to eating something and
tasting all its juices but transferring the pulp into someone else's mouth!
He put the difficulty vividly if nauseatingly, so we all appreciate your
efforts.

chaitubappa on May 22, 2011
Thanks for this upload and the meanings. 1 correction though, BaaDav
su-aMbha par does not mean- Batu vaaman against king Bali BaaDav (बाडव)
means- VaDavaanala (वडवानल) (i.e. the fire that occurs in sea due to
volcanic erruption) su-aMbha means Sea.
SJisBack on May 22, 2011
@chaitubappa Thank you Chaitubappa. You are absolutely right! I will make
the correction. As I said in the info on clip, the translation was obtained
from internet. BTW, I should ask your help with the meaning of second
stanza first line: "pavan( or poun ?) bari bahpar" i could not figure out
what it means.
chaitubappa on May 23, 2011
@SJisBack, I hope u didn't mind me correcting you. the second stanza goes
like this. पौन (पवन) बारिबाह (वारिवाह= मेघ) पर As the strong wind scatters
the clouds of rain सम्भु (शंकर) रतिनाह (रतिनाथ =कामदेव) पर As Shiva
distroyed Kaamadeva, जो सहसबाह (सहस्रबाहू= सहस्रार्जुन) पर राम-द्विजराज
(द्विजराम= परशुराम) है and as Parashuraama distroyed Sahasraarjuna- so is
King Shivaji against his enemies.
SJisBack on May 23, 2011
@chaitubappa MInd ? Not at all ! You are a gentleman and a scholar
Chaitubappa. You can correct my translations anytime.
SJisBack on February 21, 2012
Yt member @chaitubappa translated this Hindi poem in Marathi, not in text
like (I attempt) but in Marathi poetry. Just brilliant !
