Rumahaleji, It is a superfine, heart touching and impressive song listened
1st. time in my college function, sung by a 2nd. year student (Ashoke
Bhardwaj) in 1972, exactly in the same tone as that of Mukesh. I
appreciated this song too much from that very day. The song also included
the stenza" Chup hain chand chandne chup ye aasman hai, methe methe neend
mein so raha jahan hai,.. aaj aadhe raat ko kuen jaga gaya koe" Thanks for

regards other stanza mentioned by me, much discussion has taken place in
the comments on this page. It is now concluded that the stanza was present
in the audio only; and, the second stanza in the video is different - only
first stanza is common in video and audio.

I prostrate before the souls who compose such great poetry..equally
commendable are the efforts of music maestro and the performer of such a
typical Raga like Sohni ..I recall the days when an old person less
known in this world used to sing this song ...sitting outside his house in
the perfect solitude of midnight and beyond. He used to sing in a soulful
manner .and as an adolescent youth I wasn't able to grasp the finer
nuances of this great Raga.but the rendering used to attract my
attention time and again !
