this is one of the best over all song i heard in life...music,singing
acting,timing..perfection...one man who is without teeth..the way they act
put out music from their acts...everything is so classical...unbelievable
song. can u tell me any song which can over all comapre this??? all the
songs written here see the picturisation of this song and copmare with
them...see the big defferance...this song is an art..shri raj kapoor is a
matchless fellow.~

"Jhanak Jhanak tori baje payaliya" is in rag Darbari Kanada, which might
explain the association to you ear (though Lapak Jhapak is more of a
'semblance' of this rag, with touches of Malhar and possibly other ragas).

while I do agree with all above comments I think think this and Zannak zanak payal song r in Raag Adana. Entire song is greatly song and well picturised . Really no one can match Mannada when it comes to classical song like this. He richly deserves the recent award and honor bestowed on him.

Seemz a funny song, and picturised in the same manner too. But, in
fact, a classical song. Very hard to copy . MannaDay did it in his
very own way... He'z a great singer, having very much hold on his

Kafi that whereas Darbari Kanada is from Asawari That . Miya Malhar mein
Dhaivath Varjya hai,Aroha aur Avahoroh mein. Darbari Kanada mein Dhaivath
Komal hai Aroha aur Avahroh mein. One can confuse darbari Kanada with Adana
because they are both from same That namely asawari.Compare this song with
Duniya ke Rakhwale which is Darbari kanada ,dont you see the similarities.
For example ,compare "Tere Ghade" n "Mandir girta"

One should remember that majority of film songs are not based on a
particular raga or based on more than one ragas . It is very likely that
Shankar-jaikishan have used both Darbari kanada n Adana but mostly this
song is based on the former raga. Film songs are mostly not purely based on
one classical raga ,they are sort of mixture of ragas or fusion of eastern
n western music .The aim is that the end product should be palatable n
pleasing to the ears n catchy.

beautiful song sung by Manna Dey in film Basant Bahar called " Bhayi
Bhanjana sun Vandana hamari ,daras tere maangey ye tera pujari" Fantastic
song,one of my favourites!

As I heard this song,past memories spring up. It was 1954, my sister (she
is no more) bought a ticket for this film ,which ran at LIBERTY (one of the
first air-conditioned theatre). I then boarded the ship and left India for
ever at the age of 16. David mostly played gentleman and Bhudo advani was a
great comedian.
