Balraj sahni...a class actor.this is a awesome song...yuan ,thanks for this.
RealMusicKing on May 13, 2010
SJ copied this from Western tune. Later, they speeded this one and made
"Dheere chal dheere aye bheegi hawa, mere bulbul ki hai neend jawan".

Subir Sen sounded a bit like Hemant Kumar. So did another singer Dwijen Mukherjee.

PRICELESS Vintage Gem! :) Charming Balraj Sahni, soothing voice of Subir
Sen & the euphoric joy of romance, all exquisitely depicted in this
captivating piece!:) LOVE Vyjayanthimala's spontaneous dance outbursts
throughout the absolute dreamy music at 0:15, then at 2:26, to climax at
3:31 as she approaches the Buddha statue, is caught in a trance &
captivated by the powerful grip of sweet romance to dance away with utter
grace & bashful delight as a sweet release!:) A true Gem! :) 13th Sep' 10.

Another feather in the cap of Shankar Jaikishan

@RealMusicKing Sorry my friend I dont see dheere chal in the tune...but I
will set you a task to find a Laxmikant Song by Kisore Kumar whose opening
lines were a dead copy of Dheere Chal.
RealMusicKing on November 25, 2011
You cannot "see" but if you paid "attention", could "hear" the resemblance. Laxmikant Pyarelal made all their music from other music directors' styles. But this Manzil Wohi Thi is not SJ's own as they took it from a Western tune. Now you name the Western song / tune that SJ made this song along with Dheere Chal and later LP made the song for Kishore. And this, would be your task for the day. Looking forward to hearing from you.
surinder50 on November 28, 2011
@RealMusicKing I am sorry I still do not see the resemblence... nor do I
not know the english music from where it comes. But the SJ music Dheere
Chal was made into Kishore song in Mr. India. by LP " Kate Nahin Kat Te Yeh
Din Yeh Raat"
RealMusicKing on November 30, 2011
Surinderji. Please don't be sorry. The Mr. India song I heard once long ago and that too, I was passing by. I normally don't listen to 1980's and up music/songs as there is no attraction in them : ). The resemblance is very minute. "Manzil Wohi Thi", the start part is as "Dheere Chal Dheere Chal" different speed of course. Then the song takes a different turn towards lower note. Now comes the part of the western tune. It was played on t.v. once during a dance number. Regards.

You Sir, as "faster" than "quick". You figured out the tune that I had heard once many moons ago in couple of days. Toche! So now you see the resemblance between The Man That Plays The Mandilino of which I had heard a faster version (instrumental only) and Manzil Wohi Thi Pyar Ke and Dheere Chal Dheere Chal. hahaha. Very nice. Excellente! Thank you very much for sharing.
Sukesh Hoogan on June 18, 2012
The singer is Subir Sen and not Hemant Kumar
Ahmad Afifi on June 19, 2012
Dear Sukesh Sahib Thank you very much for correction. I am obliged.
R Bhatia on September 06, 2012
The tune "The Man That Plays The Mandilino' was lifted by music director
Snehal Bhatkar in the movie Chhabili (1960). The movie starred Nutan and
Tanuja. The song was "Aie mere hamsafar, le rok apni nazar" The song was
sung by Nutan and Hemant Kumar. I beg to differ that "manzil wahi hai" is a
copy of "The man that plays ..."

More like a "Patch" in their "Pijamas"
RealMusicKing on September 08, 2012
@MrRajinderBhatia Sorry but "wrong" plus "wrong". And two "wrongs" can never make a "right". Firstly, this song, at it's start, does resemble The man with Mandolini. Secondly, the Hemant or Hemant/Nutan song from Chhabili is "Lehron Pe Lehr, Ulfat Hai Jawan" not "Aye Mere Hamsafar".
Ramesh Thakrar on September 10, 2012
This is one of his finest songs. I also went to his show when he was in
London.
shankerjai on December 28, 2014
DEar Ahmad Afifi SIR
