Shailendra, Salil Chowdhary and Lata Mangeshkar and on screen Sadhana

When in Sharjah, 1994, I read an article about a music critic swearing that
this could easily be the most melodious song in the last 50 years! It could
be a matter of debate, but I have to agree that Lata's singing is
breath-taking, especially the lines "Aise rim jhim mein o sajan, pyaase
pyaase mere nayan, tere hi khwaabon men kho gaye..." This song was
discussed somewhere as an example of 'sanchari', something Salilda ventured
into often!

You see it is so depressing to note that even the Government of India is
not taking any notice of many gems in the society. Salil Da wasn't even
awarded Padma shree. He will always be remembered for his heart touching
music. Kai baar yun hi dekha hai, itna tu mujse na pyaar badha, kahin door
jab din. If I were to count all his beautiful music, a big book will be
filled. When such artists get some wider attention. Pt.Bhimsen joshi was
awarded Bharat ratna too late. There are still some .

Saregamapa. I viewed 2011 competition on Youtube. Our classical music has
undergone so many changes from old times through moghual empire through
british to present times from forty to 2000. People always like good things
