S N Tripathi remains an underestimated Music Director. Sankar Jaikishen, C
Ramachandra, Naushad Ali those were the days. The actor was I think Jairaj.
The voice of inimiatble Rafi. God is Great.
zakazim on March 08, 2008
Wa rafi saab is great, cant mess with da greatest voice

I have been looking for this song for over 20 years until I found this on
You Tube this morning. What a great of You Tube. This song by Rafi Saheb is
ever green and will remain so for all times to come. Hats of to the Music
Directors, Lyricists, composers and the singers of that era.
Azizsheru on September 14, 2008
Thank you Moula. I was looking for this song for sometime now. I really would like to see Hatim Tai again but have no idea where I can get a video or dvd of it. Any help?
Asmalata on September 16, 2008
Love rafi---I love how the music follows his

did.

I've been looking for this song for a very long time - thanks for posting.

Do you have the original film?
Amina Ather on October 16, 2009
Who ever has posted this one , thank u very much , my mom sings it every
time and she has been teaching us thank u very much ,
Chaman Zadoo on October 20, 2009
No one can sing this song for all times to come the way Rafi Saheb has sung
this. I remember having failed in my 10th class for I kept on watching
Hatim Tai over and over on the previous days of my Math, Science & English
papers during 1958-59. This is the song which will never fade out of the
mindof people who must have heard this. We salute Rafi Saheb & the Music
Director for such a beautiful composition. I also once ayer suggested to
our Head Master for singing this song as a morning prayer.

Hi this is Kaleem iam wishing to download the whole movie pls reply
Chaman Zadoo on January 16, 2010
Hello Mr. Kaleem. I wish I could help you. I saw this movie in March,1958 3
days before my Math, Science & English Papers of 10th grade which exam
during those days was conduced by University of Jammu & Kashmir. I watched
this movie consecutively for three times only because of this song and
nothing else. I was, those days, myself a Radio Singer and won many prizes
for singing this song. Today I am an old man of 67 years of age but I still
have a great passion for singing. God bless you.
vaadaenmacchi on January 31, 2010
@czadoo Very nice to see such positive comments and that people still
appreciate great and real music like this. I suppose those days you had no
tv and only rafi and hemant kumar's voices on the radio were entertainment.
Must have been great!
Chaman Zadoo on January 31, 2010
Thanks for your comments. Those days we had categorized the singers in
order of their melodeous voice. Those were Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mahmood,
Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar and so on. Out of women folk, it was Lata
Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle, Shamshad Begum, Geeta Bali (later Dutt) Suraya
and so on. Yes, of course, Radio Only. TV came into existence in 1972 only
in our State. Tape recorders too came to be known in 1960s.
Chaman Zadoo on January 31, 2010
Thanks for your sweet comments. Those days we had categorized the male as
well as female singers in order of their merit and melodeous voice. They
would be first Mohd. Rafi, Talat Mehmood, Hemant Kumar, Kishore Kumar, C H
Atma, Manna Dey & Lata, Asha, Shamshad Begum, Geeta Bali (later Dutt),
Suraya and Noor Jehan. Yes there was no TV then which came into existence
during 1972 only in our State. Those were the days one can never forget.
See the songs of 1950s, 1960s are still fresh.
vaadaenmacchi on February 01, 2010
@czadoo I was born in the late 70s but I only like hindi songs from the 50s
and 60s. After the 80s it all went downhill for me. I still have around 200
cassette tapes. sure, cds last longer but playing rafi on a cassette is
sheer nostalgia. take care friend.
vishnukant on March 05, 2010
SIr TV came in 1982 when Asian Games came to Delhi. Before that it was in
Delhi. I do not about other metros. We listen songs on Radio or purchased
records or later on tape.

Give me S.N.Tripathi songs of C grade films than present A grade film
songs(don't deserve to be called songs). The KING on THRONE is S.N.TRIPATHI.

Such a beautiful song -- such moving lyrics and Rafi at his best as usual
-- I tears up every time I listen to it.
Srinivasan Channiga on July 31, 2010
Lyrics are by Akhtar Romani.
apparaoarani on October 22, 2010
Sri Nath Thripati tuned this Akthar Romani's song , so good , even later it is used in Jithendra / Sangeetha Bijlani version of Hathim thai also. Jairaj is the actor in this song .He( Paidy Jairaj ) is from Karim Nagar ( Andhra Pradesh-28-9-1909 / 11-8-2000 ) awarded Dada saheb Phalke award also-Arani.Apparao-Hydrabad-A.P.

India is a great country !!
Here Naushad saab gives us immortal creations like "madhuban men radhika naache re" and "man tarpat hari darshan ko aaj", and SN Tripathi composes wonders like one with great tales of Khalil , Ayyub , Yunus and.
Where else in the world you ll find such an example !!

I have heard that Rafi saab himself regarded this song as one of the 10 best songs he sung.
long live india.long live secularism !!
pankajtiwari2 on December 16, 2010
@czadoo just one correction. Geeta Bali and Geeta Datt were different.Geeta dutt was Geeta Roy earlier and Geeta bali later became shammi kapoor's wife. Geeta bali unfortunatly died young in 1965 in age of 35.

best version of HATIM TAI,i still remember shakila&jairaj.another good song
JHOOMTI HAI NAZAR JHOOMTA HAI PYAR by rafi saab&some female voice.
Sholay48 on March 09, 2011
Great song. He sang this song live in Mile End, London in October 1979. He
sang it at a slower pace. He did justice to the song. Rafi would never mess
about with religious songs. He had high respects for all. That's why he is
loved by people of all religions from every corner of the world.
