S.D.Burman should have won the best music director award in the FILMFARE
AWARDS for composing the music of this film..but he didn't...also same did
happen when he didn't get award for the music for guide and jewel
thief..filmfare awards have been and still are very much biased depriving
the actual winners

Actually the music for this movie was composed by S.D. Burman. S. D. Burman
fell ill after recording some duet songs with the legendary Lata, Rafi &
Kishore. Afterwards, his son and assistant R.D. Burman took over the
recording. R. D. Burman got Kishore Kumar to solo sing the songs Mere Sapno
Ki Rani and Roop Tera Mastana. Kishore Kumar won his first Filmfare award
for the song "Roop Tera Mastana".

great picturisation of the song..watch carefully no frames cut this is full
song without edits.. how actors move from one side to other ...perfect
intimacy for the scene but no vulgarity...seduction to its best...with
Kishoreda's voice in background.now that is Golden era - music at its
best with films, actors as legends...

@4zahed Some of the "Aradhana" songs were composed by RD and not by SD.
Still "Jeene Ki Raah" over "Aradhana" was a joke. Bigger jokes were "Suraj"
over "Guide", "Pehchan" over "Talash", "Be-Imaan" over "Pakeezah". Filmfare
awards, and now the National Awards also, have always been rigged. How else
do you explain awards for AB and "Paa"?
Zahed Hossain on November 17, 2011
the other jokes were "Dil Se" over kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kaho Na Pyaar Hai
over Refugee (that won national awards), "Julie over "Khel Khel Mein" to
me..AB was a justified winner for Paa but Hrithik for Dhoom 2 over Aamir
Khan (Rand de Basanti), Amitabh for Hum over Sanjay Dutt for Saajan,
Shahrukh for DDLJ over Aamir's Rangeela and the worst of all Juhi Chawla
for Hum Hain Rahi Pyar ke ..

It is said that RD was the one who made this song . He, the son of SD ,
was also the assistant music director of SD. The song has all the markings
of RD's music in it. Though SD and RD are so similar in their use of
musical instruments, RD's use of bongos and drums is subtly different from
SD, the sound is so pronounced of the drums. According to many sources RD
was the more creative of the two. Incidentally Madan Mohan is also another
assistant of SD. Both ,cases of chelas one up on guru.TNX

@4zahed There are many mistakes that are made by Filmfare (on the music
director category). Here are some (in my opinion): Rangeela (instead of
DDLJ), Dil To Pagal Hai (instead of Pardes), Dil Se (instead of Kuch Kuch
Hota Hai), Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai (instead of Mohabbatein).
Zahed Hossain on February 28, 2012
i do agree with you except for the last one as I believe "Refugee" should
be the winner for that year 2000
liverpoolisbest1001 on March 25, 2012
I totally agree. There are many many mistakes made by Filmfare not only in
the music director category but also in oher category as well.

Though SD 's name was put in the titles of the movie , but it was RD who
did most of the work as SD was taken ill during the recording. It is at
least widely believed to be so. Thanks
boiragirules on April 20, 2012
oh..typical SD flavour...ummmm what a talented director he was.
boiragirules on April 20, 2012
God knows who played that bongo...he should have been given bharat ratna!!!
boiragirules on April 30, 2012
Heard that it was RD who got Kishor to sing this song and "Mere Sapno ki
Rani" when SD was hospitalised! The responsiblity befell on RD to finish
the music composition, SD wanted and got Rafiji to sing for this movie.
Thank god SD got sick and we got this two masterpieces. I am not sure who
actually set the music composition beforehand..SD or RD.
Alvin George on May 10, 2012
This was all taken in one shot, can you believe it? Amazing.
Mohammad Ali on May 30, 2012
That RD composed this song came out only after SD and RD were both dead!
The songs of Aradhana were all composed by SD Burman. RD as Associate Music
Director composed only the background music as per SD's requirement. SD got
sick much later. For details on the Aradhana songs and others read the
beautiful book on SD Burman "Incomparable SD Burman" by HQ Chowdhury
published from Dhaka Bangladesh
0point00 on June 01, 2012
Well, whoever composed it, RD definitely had a hand in these songs
drbend69 on June 09, 2012
& it's the way you got me, head over heels for you. The way you get me, like nothing or no one else ever have.
0point00 on June 17, 2012
Well, RD was as an assistant in this film and did a lot of work when SD got
ill. At least the songs "Kora Kagaz tha" and "Mere Sapno ki rani" are
confirmed to be RD compositions. This particular song - from what I heard -
it was RDB and Kishoreda's idea to use an old SDB song in a very different
way. And RD must have worked on the orchestration. Both Aradhana and Jewel
Thief had large influences from panchamda.

I absolutely agree with you, You are missing the worthless Saathiya(2002) got the award instead of Raaz which thorughly deserve all the awards that year.
liverpoolisbest1001 on July 07, 2012
Oh yes, I forgot that. Looks like Filmfare judges are worthless, they don't
know which songs (albums) are best.
rbeg2008 on July 13, 2012
@mhhfh & @liverpoolisbest1001: The music of Saathiya was waaay better than
Raaz! The songs in Raaz were good but very typical whereas A.R Rahman
introduced a new flavour of music with Saathiya - I loved each n every
track! Wow, Rajesh Khanna was such a hotty back then lol ;-)
rbeg2008 on July 14, 2012
I've become addicted to this song, iv lost count of the number of times iv
watched it since yesterday! Sharmila's eyes speak volumes, love the
intensity in Rajesh Khanna's eyes :-) Kishore SO deserved being awarded for
this song, what a legend!
