! I watched this film in 1972. Recently I watched the film again on TV and
was very disappointed to see this song missing from the film.

I believe this song was cut from the film just after its release . its such melodious song and wih meaningful lyrics with lovely music to compliment it. Its just a mystery why was it cut from the movie in the first place???!!!

A pathos-laden song, sung soulfully by Lataji. The song has been a long
favorite - Gulzar's poetry is of high quality displaying his mastery over
unique metaphorical usage, not the run-of-the-mill type that we often hear
in film music, and Salil Chowdhury's music is simply beautiful from the
very start ...just what the lyrics called for. Thanks for sharing this song

Bilkul theek kahaa aapne. Uchch koti ki kavitaon ka filmon ke maadhyam se
jude rehna he shaayad unhein sahitya ka darzaa na dene ka kaaran hai. Main
aapke vichaaron se sehmat hoon, acchhe darze ke saahitya ko kisee ke
sahaare ki aavashyakta nahin hoti hai sivaay vichaaron ke, jaise ki achhi
kavitaaon yaa shaayari ko na to shaahi Urdu ki zaroorat hai, aur na hee
klisht Hindi ki. Lekin in bhaashaaon ka sahi upyog karne se kalaa mein
