I can not help but think that Tabu would have fitted this role better: she
was very much fresher and genuine. Sridevi in the 90s was a more mature
actress who needed a lot of screen space and solid roles (Lamhe, Khuda
Gawah and Laadla, Judaai showed it well), definitely not such reduced
"quirky youngish" character. Tabu would have been a better choice
especially because she had delivered hits with both Anil (Virasat) and
Nagarjuna (Ninne Pelladetha) the few years before Mr Bechara...
