Is it just me that whenever I watch Dilip Kumar with Rafi's voice
in playback it seems that DK is singing himself? I mean his personality
and stature seems to be the most befitting with this glorious voice compared
to other counless actors that have used it.

I agree with you. Indian cinema passed through a golden era
in the sixtees, seventees and early eightees when the blend
of beautiful voices such as Rafi's and Lata's and the lyrics from
the top lyricists and the music from the most talented musicians
such as Laxmikant Piarelal, Kalyaanji Anandji, Naushad etc. was
predominant. They were all so complimentary to each other that
one would be worthless without the other two. All these elements
exalted the Indian culture superbly. Lucky us.

Actually Laxmikant - Pyarelal were nothing compared to stalwarts like
Naushad, S.D.Burman, Madan Mohan, Hemant Kumar, Shankar Jaikishan, Roshan
and others.You will feel heavy after listening to Laxmikant - Pyarelal's
songs (with a few exceptions). You'll know the difference when you listen
to LP's compositions and compositions by other stalwarts

+Mulakush , after Lata stopped singing with Rafi , there were umpteen
singers who sang with Rafi saheb . the list is as follows: - 1. Suman
Kalyanpur 2.Asha Bhonsle and many others.
RAFI SAHEB was, is and will be the King of hindi and urdu songs. Lata's
voice has been duplicated but not Rafi Saheb's voice.
Not a single singer could sing MAN TARPAT HARI DARSHAN KO AAJ like RAFI
SAHEB.

Lata can be replaced by Shreya Ghoshal , there is no substitute for Rafi
Saheb

GOD was also jealous of his voice and style of singing, that is the reason
he took him away young.
