Such an eternal composition and such a godly soothing voice. Just love this song. Song's of those days had the music being played in background and the lead voice in foreground. Nowadays, its the reverse, with all sorts of synthetic beats, they hide the singer's mistakes too. This kind of singing with the lead voice in the foreground is really difficult and that is why Classical vocal is so soothing to us. Truly a masterpiece !!!

Balraj Sahni a great actor. (1 May 191313 April 1973). Sahni went from his native Rawalpindi to study in the University of Harvard. He completed his Masters degree in English Literature from Lahore and then went back to Rawalpindi and joined his family business. He also held a Bachelor's degree in Hindi, followed by a Masters in English from Punjab University.

This is probably the best bhajan that has come from Hindi movies. What lyrics by the immortal Shailendra! Brings tears to ones eyes. What music by the immortal duo of Shankar Jaikishan! No one can touch their sublime music beautifully sung by the one and only Manna Dey. A combination that gave us so many more musical gems with 'sur na saje' from basant bahaar, 'aa ja sanam' from chori chori and 'ai bhai jara dekh ke chalo' from mera naam joker to name a few.
