Rafi has seldom sung on the lips of Rajkapoor whose voice suited most with
Mukesh and Mann deyh.However Mohd. Rafi's vesatilty compelled Music
directors to use his voice on the lops of Rajkapoor too.It is learnt that
Shankar jaikishan originally planned this song with mukesh whose style
however did not suit the mood of the song. In film "do Ustad" all the five
songs were recorded by O P Nayyar in Rafi's voice on the lips of RajKapoor

Lovely song ! Only that please, edit and correct the names of the singers.
It is Mohd. Rafi and Asha Bhosle. I just want to add here that there is no
duet sung together by Rafi Sahab and Lata between 1959 and 1968. They did
not sing together for almost ten of these years.

Raja Thapar ji- please correct your knowledge. Rafi and Lata didn't sing
together from the middle of 1963 to middle of 1967. This song was a Lata-
Rafi duet; it was recorded in 1962.

गाना, पर राज कपूर पर यह अस्वाभाविक, असहज एवं अनुपयुक्त लगता है।
सच पूछें तो मुकेश एवं मन्ना डे की आवाज ही उन पर स्वाभाविक लगती है। पुनः राज
कपूर की पहचान ऐसे गंभीर रोमांटिक गानों से नहीं थी। दो उस्ताद के गाने
हल्के-फुलके थे, इस लिए राज कपूर उतने असहज नहीं लगे।

Intresting fact about this song is that rafis voice was used as a standing
artist later on another male voice (it was Mukesh) was to be used to dub to
replace rafi but rafi sang so well that SJ as well as Rajkapoor refused to
dub it by Mukesh but kept it as it is

The great ever Rajsaab and playback singer Mukeshji was a fantastic
equation which amused the listeners for years. However, in this duet ('Tum
hi tum ho') maestros Shankar-Jaikishan used Rafisaab's voice for Rajsaab to
make the the song everlasting. Along with the talented lyricist
Shailendraji's situation oriented wording and Rafisaab-Latadidi's nice
rendering, the pieces of Piano accordion influence the song.
Moreover, I disagree with the opinion of Shri. Gopalji Sinha that
Rafisaab's voice didn't suit Rajsaab. On the contrary, there was not a
single artiste who didn't sing on the screen in Rafisaab's voice. Most of
the listeners know that Rafisaab lent his voice even for versatile
actor-playback singer Kishorda in the movies like 'Ragini' And 'Shararat'.

जहां तक राजसाब के गानों का सवाल है तो पार्श्वगायक मुकेशजी की आवाज ही उनकी
परदे पर की आवाज थी. यह एक बहुतही सफल एवं अटूट समीकरण साबित हुआ था.
पार्श्वगायक मन्नादा ने भी राजसाब के लिए कुछ गाने गाए हैं. परंतु इस गीत में
(तुम ही तुम हो) शंकर-जयकिशन जोडी ने राजसाब के लिए रफीसाब की आवाज का उपयोग
किया. यह गीत भी उस जमाने में काफी लोकप्रिय हुआ था. प्रतिभाशाली गीतकार
शैलेन्द्रजी ने दो प्रेमियों के दिलों की जो बात कही है वह दिल लुभाती है.
इसके अतिरिक्त इस गीत में बजाए गए पिआनो एकोर्डिअन साज ने गीत पर पूरा प्रभाव
डाला है.
