this movie is about a man trying to resist the system which is trying to
conform him like everyone else. this is because for the system to function
properly, and for the powers to remain vested in the authorities that set
it up, everyone else should act in a predictable fashion so that they can
be ruled. john tries to resist the system and keeps on smoking no matter
what the authorities try do. and so the people in charge take away his soul
so that he would think, and act like an obedient robot.

i think the whole movie was the journey of the soul instead of the story of
the body.so at the end when the soul dies...i think when u see jon going
about his life, it is like despite knowing all the harm etc done to him and
others from smoking he still doesn't listen to it.and in a way his soul
kinda dies.
