V. Siddhartha on June 15, 2009 The most moving ghazal voices in old Bombay cinema belonged to K.L.Sehgal,
C.H. Atma, and Talat Mehmood. If I didn't know the other two, I would have
said TM was the only such great ghazal singer. That's what his touching
voice does to me; it sways me so much with its sweetness that I have to
remind myself that there are others in his league. Thanks, Ajitji.
V. Siddhartha on June 15, 2009 Doesn't that TM voice draw a a tear from your eyes in sympathy for the
anguish and pleading of Vijay Kumar, particularly when you also see the
silent empathy and pain on the face of baby-faced Nimmi? A truly moving
clip this is.
