This is one of the most beautifully done end scenes in all of Bollywood
cinema. I think it went greatly underappreciated. It's up there with the

No she didn't poison herself. She was poisoned by the woman who's marrying
the man she loves, out of envy of her beautiful voice. It prevented her
from singing or talking, but out of love she performed at their marriage
ceremony out of love for the man, knowing very well it would kill her.

Correction again, it was not the woman who poisoned her... It was a man actually who poisoned her (the man is related to the woman who is marrying Salma's prince)... I know for a fact, I watched this film so many times in my younger days lol :) and its a great movie!!!

love this song, the words are so mean full and power full. i have seen this
movie with my mother so many times and i would this is one of the best song

translation aside, I cannot understand the song, only the visuals. But let
me say heartache is presented so well, it pains me. Forces me to reminisce

Wooow, she's the singer as well? I've just read this. Who would've thought
they'd be one in the same? This woman is incredible. Anyone who knows where
to find this full movie, or even just these songs in English(subtitles),
please, please pass this info on. I must know what she's saying! At the end
it sounds like the Spanish word, "olvidar" which means to forget. ..Just
thought I'd point that out. I'd be forever grateful for the translation! :)

Decades are gone, the story has been told over & over again. I have no idea
how many other versions exist, but from Zindagi Ya Toofan to this movie,
tells only one thing, some stories will never get old (not at least not in
our life time). Yes, this is another take on Umrao Jan Ada, the bye gone
culture of Lucknow which is a distant memory. Do you know a movie was made
almost 30 years ago, The same title Salma. I have seen that one, though do
not remember all the way through.
