What a dig today with this Shanta Apte vintage gem, JSji ! Back in those
days when playback singing hadn't commenced in films, actresses had to have
the singing skills also. Shanta Apte was also a combination of beauty, good
singing and acting skills. Her voice had that khanak that we also hear in
the voices of some other singers, such as Shamshad Begum;; SA's of course,
was unique to her voice. And she was also quite versatile. I couldn't
believe about her talents when I first heard her western rendition of the
Longfellow poem in "Duniya Na Maane", quite ahead of her times she was, so
it seems to me. I heard this one after a long time. Thanks, JSji.
