The music kept this movie strong. Amit Trivedi did an outstanding job with
the project. Jazz music and Bollywood is a difficult task. Only Amit
Trivedi could do music like this. I think this takes his standard to
another level. Very knowledgeable and full with talent when you listen to
the music.
A lot of people did not like the movie because of the consistent plot. I
would agree slightly but still thought the movie was really good. Kashyp
brought the Western World to India and did well in my opinion. I think he
did well because it is hard to have the audience to buy-in to these kind of
movies. This was his "masterpiece", his story that he thought was the best
story to present to the audience.
Things I loved about the film:
-Performance by: Ranbir Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Vivaan Shah. Ranbir played
a difficult role in my opinion with so many features and characteristics in
his character.
-Music Obviously: There was not one point in the film I did not stop
tapping my foot while the music was playing with legendary songs and a
classic background score.
-The setting that was presented in the film, the visuals, and how
everything looked authentic.
-Things I hated about the film:
Performance by Karan Johar was not good at all. Probably the worst part of
the film besides the inconsistent plot. I just felt that if they were gonna
put a villain, they needed a villain with pedigree and some type of style
to him. Karan Johar and acting cannot go in the same sentence. WHY NOT CAST
Manoj Bajpal? Bring some nastiness to that business style character.
Johar's character really bothered me.
Inconsistent storyline, I thought the flow of the film was not that great
but in the end I got what the story was, so that is why I am not gonna be
too harsh on that part.
Probably just me: I thought the ending could have been more spectacular. It
was the killing of a very "dangerous" man to the system that was in place.
The ending should have been more epic.
Overall, I liked the film, I would watch it again. Gotta go in with an open
mind and just have a utopia way of thinking. I would give the movie 3/5 ***
stars out of 5. I would recommend everyone to watch it because of the
music, performance, visuals. This is a very different film and I liked it,
highly recommend it.
