Rajesh khanna snubbed rafi to sing for him in the 70s.However ,clever
director gave him a background number and he sang his heart out.
The great human being loved his friends and foes alike.Against all odds he
won the best playback singer in 1977 for kya hua tera wada ...He died 3 yrs
later...makes you wonder if he was given a"fair go"we would have collected
some real gems as against some meaningless numbers which you fail to
remember the next day ..let alone years to come.

Every singer had limitations in that era except Mohd. Rafi. Kishore Kumar
attempted no of time to sing this song but failed. As KK was a fan of Rafi
himself and he had no ego to ask LP to request Rafi to sing this song. KK
always admired Rafi and respected his superiority. He use to say if we can
sing sang 10 way.. Rafi saab can sing 100 ways.. RK started his career with
all Rafi hit songs and he later forgot those..

Kishore was supposed to sing this song, he just could not hit the notes, he
himself requested Rafi sahab , and look what happened. There will never be
another Rafi.. pure Talent. A voice that never ages. Salute to the
modern Tansen..
