Lyrics of Nind Kabhi Rahati Thi Aankhon Mein - नींद कभी रहती थी आँखों में
nind kabhi rahti thi aankho me
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya
chain kabhi rahta tha is dil me
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya

log mujhse kahe dekho udhar nikla hai chaand
kaun dekhe udhar jaane kidhar nikla hai chaand
chand kabhi rahta tha nazro me
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya

jhuth boli pavan kahne lagi aayi bahaar
ham baag me gaye dekha vaha pyaar hi pyaar
phool rahte honge chaman me kabhi
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya

baat pahle bhi aur tufaan se darte the ham
baat ab aur hai ab hai hame kaahe ka gam
saath kabhi maanjhi the sang lekin
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya
nind kabhi rahti thi aankho me
ab rahte hai saanvariya, ab rahte hai saanvariya

One of the best compositions of highly talented Laxmi Piare in the early
part of their career as independent composers who showed their all round
acumen be it composition or orchestration. Had worked as musicians and
arrangers under different musical greats before launching themselves as
independent music directors and wow what a storehouse of talent reaching to
touch the class of genius in a number of pictures like Parasmani (their
maiden effort), Aya Toofan, Lootera, Sati Savitri, Haishchander Taramati,
Hum Sab Ustad Hain, Mr. X in Bombay, Dosti, Wapas etc., though most of
these films were low budget movies yet all got illumined by the magical
glow of musical genius, Dosti really changed all that, it went on the win
Filmfare for them against such competition as Sangam (Shanker-Jaikishan)
and Woh Kaun Thi (Madan Mohan).. This song penned by Anand Bakshi who was
associated with the duo almost as permanent lyricist. The trio formed a
formidable and the most successful musical team who ruled the Hindi film
music scene for more than three decades. In their later works, they were
not as melodious and hackneyed to a large extent and noisy too. This number
is a great reflection on the tremendous talent which this duo had and is
also a showcase how the commercial interest had turned the nature of their
music. Thanks Rumhale saheb for uploading this one which I had first heard
on Jai Mala on Vividh Bharti way back in 1966 (11.00 AM to 12.30 PM). For
once I was sold out to the melodies of the duo for their work in Dosti and
other films which I made a mention of.

Such songs reminds you of the story that there lived a middle class man in
the large city, having a homely wife and three children, had a small home
and not a big house. When he returned from his work all of them have their
meals together and not in their individual rooms. After their meal they sat
together, there was no TV and they all listen to such beautiful and simple
songs on "Vivid Bharti" coming out of a huge transistor. What a beauty of a
time that was. And now one of those children typing these comments while
once again listening to this song on his I pad alone in his room.
God...please bring back those simple days.please.

The music is simple but is so marvellously composed and exquisitely sung by
Lataji, that you never tire of listening to it. I often listen to it. I
have already listened to it thrice now. Have you listened to it? It calms
you.
Laxmikant-Pyarelal's musical accompaniment is light and tastefully done; it
complements Lata's beautiful vocal.
