Majrooh S was the most versatile and prolific songwriter of Bollywood.
Besides being a film lyricist, he was a respected literary personality. He
had an excellent command of Urdu, which he masterfully infused with
Hindi/Purbi to suit the character and the situation. In this song, the way
he makes a hopeless person convey hope is simply brilliant! The music by LP
is extraordinary. They were born to do this movie! And Mohd. Rafi’s magical
and soulful voice is icing on the cake. A true masterpiece!
