‘Tere ghar ke saamne’
After the release of the film Tere Ghar ke Saamne in 1963 with music by SD
Burman, possibly the makers of ‘Aap Ki Parchhaiyaan’ (1964), wanted a ched
chaad song with a similar phrase… Raja Mehdi Ali Khan wrote this catchy
song, with the words ‘Tere dar ke saamne’. ‘Dar’ is ‘doorstep’ in English.
The meter was similar to a couple of earlier songs like ‘Thandi hawayen’
originally by SD Burman, and ‘Rahen na Rahen Hum’ by RD Burman, but Madanji
tuned this one with a different feel, with Rafi Saab excelling as usual.
Interestingly, a harmonium riff was used throughout the song for additional
‘lachak’. Many years later the title song of ‘Saagar’ was based on the same
meter.
The song is filmed on Dharmendra and Supriya Choudhary
