Comments on song "Ab Ke Baras Bhejo Bhaiya Ko Baabul"
Naturam Sweetsay on December 09, 2009
Great song. Cant listen to it without tears. What an epithet. It symbolises
condition of women in India under Indian (male chauvinists dominated)
marriage, which is very similar to jail or rigorous imprisonment without
any rights or escape !
HashmatUsmani on December 19, 2009
the beginning of the lyric is that of Amir Khusro's [rA] geet...amir khusro was a great mystic poet of india in teh 17th century AD

A heartful thanks for uploading this soultouching song. The story of this film is based on a book by Jarasandha, a former jail superintendent who wrote fictional versions of his experiences in, Louha-Kapat (1953), Tamasha (1958), Nyaydanda (1961). This was Bimal Roy's final feature as a director, and regarded by many as his crowning achievement.S D Burman composed the songs for the film, at the height of his musical career.
lalwanimoti on January 13, 2010
Initially, Asha Bhonsle could not bring the depth of sadness in her voice as required for the song. S. D. Burman knowingly asked her if she doesn't remember her brother. This brought tears to her eyes as the relations between the two were strained which Dada knew. After that the song was recorded in one take.

heart touching song.
Chandan Kumar on January 31, 2010
Amazingly cynical take on the song! Please note she is longing for her
brother (male)...making a plea to her father (Babul means father)...longing
for her maternal home..She is in Jail...not her husband's home...dont
know the story..but its possible he's dead!

During the rehearsel of this song when Burman Da was not getting the desired effect , he went to Asha ji and said, " Asha tumhara koi bhai nahi hai kya ".
Result is before you in the shape of this memorable song.
Those were the days , and these were the methods of masters.
Vivek Gautam on December 16, 2010
Was Shailendra the lyricist of this gem? What a great combination of his
with SD Barman. Its really sad that Shailendra committed suicide on Raj
Kapoor birthday totally heart broken by his close friend petty behavior.

There is nothing that overwhelms a Sister with joy and pride more than his
brother coming and visiting her home after her marriage. The lyrics, written
by Shailendra, are extremely moving and touching, and so aptly reflect the
delicacy and depth of these relationships. The composition of music by SD
Burman is simply superb and Asha sung(original) it to perfection. And
Jayanthi Ji,too, has sung it with a great soulful melody, with a beautiful
blend of sweetness and sadness.Highly Moving indeed!

The close intimate father daughter and sister brother bond,in our culture,
is enviably beautiful and fascinating, and it has multitude of dimensions;a
father-daughter love is so deep,so pure, and so sacred:And brother sister
love is like a delicate holy thread decorated with the deep emotions of
love and affection of a sister for her brother, and the brother's unwavering
commitment to protect her sister from all adversaries. (contd below)

A very touching song from a very touching movie - a tale of a sufferings of
an Indian woman who has been imprisoned and is longing for freedom. I have
listened to this number a couple of time as well as the original track of
Asha jee. The comparison of two performances of these two artists is no
less touching. Nowadays we rarely come across this type of songs and
accompanying music .Congrats Jay jee for this fabulous selection and doing
justice to it.
imranzaidi6 on February 22, 2011
@imranzaidi6 Please read--''his sister'' instead of her sister:and ''her
brother'' instead of ''his brother''---Sorry!!
