Culture is to respect the previous generation of family. It is knowledge, and it's okay to be biased because of their experience. However, you then add your experience to the culture in your lifetime. If your family does not let you change your page in the culture, then your family believes their experiences rival your experiences. It's a normal conflict of old vs new. Depending on how stubborn your family is, you might enlighten them or they may never understand.
