How can anyone dislike this song, Even if you are not religious the singing, the composition, the musicality is so beautiful...
suilynn73 on February 12, 2011
It's obvious this song doens't really fit to Callas...although she is the best singer of all time, still it doesn't mean she sang EVERY songs...

@tantawi1992 Sorry, but that is wrong. This is not Latin, it's German, the way Schubert originally wrote it. The melody was later used in the Latin Ave Maria of which you speak. The song's real name is "Ellens dritter Gesang" you can find all the correct information with Google and Wikipedia.
Psychogroundparty on February 13, 2011
I...Love...this...song.
You wouldn,t expect it cause i,m 6'2" 234 pounds with anger issues. And this song calms and sarenades me to tears!
JPalma7 on February 13, 2011
this is the best female version of this song.
tantawi1992 on February 13, 2011
@TripBoomLikeThat ya thats right, and it refers to a person pleading for the version Mary. Depending on which interpertation you choose, it has an integral religious element in it which invariably involves Mary.

The name is Ave MARIA dipstick, there's no use lecturing others about what it means.
TripBoomLikeThat on February 13, 2011
@tantawi1992 Your anger and name calling is not necessary or appropriate. This work has survived nearly 200 years, and deserves the truth. The video is misnamed, you need to read the Lyrics in the video description, or search for them on Google. As anyone can tell you this song is in German and Ave Marias are in Latin.

Please everyone get over yourselves!
tc6953 on February 13, 2011
@JPalma7
Could it also be Inessa Galante with her version of ave maria. Thats the female version that sprung my tears spontaniously.
jukebox718 on February 13, 2011

It just beutiful but if I am not catholic I can not ask someoneto singer the song for my when I gonna be marry ?? I guess not .Snif
TheCathybenefield on February 14, 2011
that rendition is in German not the Latin prayer...dont know if you know but there are more then 1 Ava Maria's..there is another version done originally in latin..i will post a prayer i believe i may be wrong but this one is older then Schuberts my point is this...they are both prayers to the Sacred Mother.no matter the language they are very beautiful and they should feel the heart with peace.so.just listen dont worry about anything else quieten the lips open the <3

DocOck on February 17, 2011
i feel an urgent need to shave my head and put on a black dress suit with a red tie and start killing people when i hear this song
seruzawa on February 17, 2011
Certainly this is one of the best versions. The song sounds better sung sweetly like this than in heavy operatic style. Though I personally like Helene Fischer's version just a bit better. Both are in my library. BTW if you don't like it just go away and climb back under your rock. This is arguably the most beautiful song ever written.

Why cant people stop bickering and enjoy what music is in it's different forms
MultiPasmith on February 18, 2011
i don't understand the words fully ,but the music makes me want to cry in a sad way,it hurts in a good way, don't care who wrote it ,who hates it ,i just listen to music for my feelings and this one hit most of them :(
Seres1091 on February 18, 2011
Nice, but I think it sounds better when children sing it since they have that innocence in their voice.

470 people didn't feel the extreme harmony, emanating from this song. Pity on their souls :/
Rustina61 on February 19, 2011
This was sung at my brother-in-law's funeral last week. Still can't believe he's gone.

One day I'm gonna sing 'Ave Maria' to Joe Pesci on his birthday as he sits before a bowl of spumoni ice cream.
CKatharsis on February 19, 2011
lol@ gut-wrenching cough at 0:46, other than that rather noticeable blemish it is a very enjoyable rendition.
DocOck on February 19, 2011
@soberbenz1 i was talking about the game hitman this song seems to be the theme song to the series(in a way).this has got to be one of my favorite songs and fits the mood of the game well. but i dont have any idea what your so pissed about
jukebox718 on February 20, 2011
@mscalculus1 really how do u knw that? r u frm mexico?
zulehec on February 20, 2011
conozco algo de María Callas, y no reconozco para nada su voz en este Ave Máría, si alguien es mas avezado qye yo y conoce a la persona que canta, me gustaría saberlo.

Some things are too beautiful for words. This is one of them
ThatRomanDude on February 20, 2011
@Rustina61 Sorry for your loss.
ekimthegib on February 20, 2011
@IntoTheMystical But they did put this song in the Hitman games. At least the last one. Beautiful song no matter what though.
hatguyman on February 20, 2011
@CKatharsis thats not a cough. what she's doing is taking a full breath of air in the tiny space that the music allows, that much air moving that quickly through a small space will make the same sound regardless of the direction its going (in / out)
DocOck on February 20, 2011
@IntoTheMystical i did the math and this is the song from the game everyone knows Ave Maria. Sure the game is violent but i dont care i like this song more than i like the game and i definitely like the song more than the crappy movie.

and the hitman comments are here because the song was in the movie (sigh) and in the 4th game (Hitman: Blood Money)

This version is my personal favorite..
IAMNOTAHUMANINC on February 20, 2011
It would sound so much better if she stretched the "ahhh" at 0:28 all the way until the next measure. Anyone agree?
