It is strange that people remember the singers in this case RafiJi but
forget about the Composers, in this case Laxmikant Pyerlal , we must
remember its the composers who create the song along with the lyricists ,
the singer's job is important too but the majority of creative work is the
responsibility of the Composer and then the song writer.

I remember this song since I was kid. Many Indian singers from Trinidad and Guyana used to compete to sound just like Rafi. I saw the movie as a kid growing up in guyana and still loves it.

I have tested this song with pure White American friends who did not understand the language or the culture. Many of them felt like tears welled up in their eyes. They were equally touched by this exquisite human creation. Everlasting classic!

Anyone from my generation who grew up in the Rafi ages will agree that this
is Rafi at his peak. Indian songs and indian music also at their peak. With
regards to the argument about religion, my view is that music has no
religion because it is in itself a common religion and is followed by all
music lovers. Everyone wants to make a claim on Rafi. To those people I
will say that Rafi, the singer does not belong to any single group. Not
even his own family or India. He belongs to the whole world.

i m myself die hard fan of Kishore Kumar but to those who compare singers
and their music all i can say is u are losers. and worst are the animals in
disguise of humanbeing who label music according to the religion of the
singer. music has no religion no barrier, Mohd Rafi is was a great singer
will be forever. the pain and sweetness in his voice was so heavenly and so
soothing to the sad soul. May his soul rest in peace

gave L.P. the filmfare award and when they went to Rafi saheb saying that
