Those who disliked this song are not music lovers and they can never be
true fans because liking one does not mean that you dislike other. You may
have preferences and I do have .. It's Mohd. Rafi but I can never dislike

One of the best songs I have been listening to since I saw the Film "Dosti"

With all due respect,Rafi could not handle sad songs unless the music
director taught him again and again. He had the habit of crying himself in
the song. KishoreKumar would have sung a sad song with such emotions and
modulations that made the listener cry, though the singer wouldn't have
cried himself. Rafi had a good singing technique, and he hid his
imperfections behind his technical abilities. RD once said that it was very
difficult to teach Rafi new things while KK was waymore intelligent

@Chirapdip: Thats is absolutely nonsense. I have met many MDs of that era.
The statement that Rafi was not able to pickup changes is false. Rafi has
one problem, he used to over-emote in some songs. But if the MD noticed and
told him, it was an easy job for him to change. Kishore succeeded in later
years of his life in contrast to all other singers for *one major reason*:
songs became less technical, more rythmic and hummable; and recording
technology enhanced his resonance.

contd...: Kishore had a powerful voice, but did not have the *baarikiyan*
and *theheraw*. It wasn't deep either. Recording techology enhanced his
voice the most. If u ask all the singers to sit in front of you in ur home
and sing, Rafi-Lata will sound like singers more than anybody, they had
gifted melodious voices. It cant be learnt.Watch OPN-Asha-Rafi live
practising a song n u will know the difference. Kishore had the best
aptitude in singing a song played to him becoz he din't learn music.

contd...: Also one imp part, RD Burman 's tunes were mostly inspired from
west more than nay MDs (itwofs dotcom / hindi-rdb html). Give Kishore a
piece of lyrics and a basic tune, he could not enhance it to that extent as
Rafi could. This was how music was for most of 50's / 60's; thats why
Kishore did not shine though IMHO his voice was sweeter and better then.
This subject has been debated so long that it makes no sense to
re-debate.Get ur facts straight before u make blanket statements.

music director .LP started their career with Rafi's song and Rafi sang his

A timeless classic! Splendid acting by Sudhir Kumar for a memorable song
composed by LP, sung by Mohd. Rafi and penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri. I have
noticed that majority of the posters on YouTube don't mention the lyricist
at all although lyrics are an important ingredient of the song. When
individuals do so, one may pardon them. But when a poster like Rajshri does
it, it is not excusable.
