One of the best Rafi-Suman Kalyanpur duet. Fantastic music & great
meaningful lyric. Why such songs are not written by present day song writers?

Dear friend thanx for ur comment. This song is from 1964 film Suraj.I have a
CD of the movie.I just checked again and found that it is Suman K.and not
Lata. This was the time when there was some problem between Lataji &
Shankar-Jaikishan.The duo therefore used many female singers voices other
than Lataji. Two songs from this film are sung by Sharda. Many times Suman K
appears like Lata. This song is one of them.

A great song of its time. Thanks for clarification about female voice.
Ajnabhi21 on December 14, 2008
The singer is Suman Kalyanpur...
vinod dave on February 07, 2009
you r 100% right. so it is also clear that the music director is one step
up then singer and gitakar is the first. after all song is team work. but
places are as (1) gitakar (2) sangitkar (3) gayak.

Rafi is always the best! May he rest in peace!!
mlknyc on June 27, 2009
Who else but Mohd Rafi can sing like this. I just wish S-J would have opted for Lata or Asha since they are the only ones who can match Rafi Sahab's rendition.
lukacs77 on July 13, 2009
Isn't it Sooraj? The other famous song is "Baharon phool barsao".

IIndian Cinema was at its best in 70s and 80s blessed are those who have
seen that era. i am sure that era will never return. this video is one of
the best i have enjoyed, may the soul of this great actor always remain in
peace and charm
tony frank De' S on August 19, 2009
er..this was actually in the 60's..to be exact..1966 so i am guessing you
actually meant the 60's as well??
vidhya sagar acharya on August 20, 2009
Thanks tonynaso. it is so nice to here it from you. in fact the charm and
fragrance is so fresh for ever that it never looks a story of so late in
the indian cinema. as far as i remembered i was in class 6th in 1966 and
was even youger in 1960 i.e of 4 years of age and since i have seen this
movie in cinema hall i believe i must be of atleat 13-14 years of age by
that time and it iwas in tyis row that i guessed the era of 1970. Thanks
for comments. v.sacharya. Baroda India

I have been searching for the sinhala song sung to this melody by
Jothipala, but never found it. The song is " obage muvin nagewi lande
susudu mal hina "
muzl on August 06, 2010
one of the most melodious songs! Incomparable Mohd. Rafi, Lata and S&J for
beautiful music!!!
atulks on August 09, 2010
@1234567890songs ... yes it was Rafi & Suman Kalyanpur as Lata had
refused to sing with Rafi for few years and closest to Lata's voice was her
voice and both gave some memorable duets in the 60's.
