@fijianz1 , Thanks. My mother tongue in neither Hindi, nor Urdu. In songs I
love the Hindi+Urdu combination. Geographic differences are due to
politics, and music itself is a religion. Religion is basically a code of
conduct to unify people and languages are means of communication. The
evolve with time, sometimes expand in branches. No language is property of
anyone.
bjborg1 on March 10, 2011
@feelbafan
urdu and standard modern hindi are actually both derived form the north indian dialect called khariboli. Khariboli belonged to the western branch of old hindi, which is naturally derived from Sanskrit. Im not saying that urdu is the same as sanskrit, but some of the words are definitely derived from it. Without sanskrit (and perisan, arabic, turkish) there would be no urdu. And btw, what does urdu being the 5th biggest language have to do with anything?
mour66 on March 11, 2011
@bjborg1 well urdu is a mixture of many languages, like sansakrat, turkish,
pashto, persian, arabic, punjabi, saraiki and english. it has the ability
to absorb words of other languages easily.
lilromeo11226 on March 21, 2011
@fijianz1 your wrong and hindi didn't give birth to english and urdu. Urdu. Persian, Arabic and Turkish gave birth to urdu so please get your facts right. don't give wrong information to people without any research.

@chanu07888... hahahah..not being offensive..but definetly they will
slap,,,coz their languages r not derived from Urdu, but Urdu is deriven
from their languages but not from Hindi.just compare Urdu,Hindi and
Arabic scripts together and u'll see the difference and similarties...

@gorpy81 ..what about writing scripts my friend...? does Hindi and Urdu
share the same writing scripts???
Gorpy's Vistas on May 27, 2011
@melbournepure As I have said, the perso-arabic Nastaliq script is used for
Urdu while Hindi uses the Devanagari script. In fact either script can be
used for either. But the choice of script has been very politicized post
partition and used to distinguish one language from another and develop
distinct identities for Hindi/Urdu. This is also why Gurmukhi(Indian
script) is used for Punjabi in India while just across the border Shahmukhi
is used. Similarly for Sindhi (Devanagari vs perso-arabic).
Dane B on May 28, 2011
@gorpy81 so as i said there are differences Between Urdu and Hindi..so here
u r.
Mythical2000 on June 08, 2011
India is too big ...at NO given time was all of India under any empire..hence if Persian was the court language of Mughal it had no bearing on the language of the people which ALWAYS was Sanskrit based in the N and E and Dravidian derivatives in the South. Persian was never any useful language of India ever, maybe some Islamic scholars. Urdu is pure Indian and is derived a recent urban version of Awadhi/Hindi etc.

Sanjeev Kumar, the pride of Bollywood.
Gorpy's Vistas on July 01, 2011
@melbournepure Although you meant to be sarcastic, it is ironical that you
are actually kinda right- the vast majority of the populations ranging
geographically from South Asia to Britain & beyond actually speak @ least
one language from the "Indo- European" language family (incl Russian, Eng),
derived from an ancient "Proto-Indo-European" language, Sanskrit & Avestan
being some of the oldest from this family. Only Semitic languages(Arabic,
Hebrew, etc) do not belong to the I-E language family.
Dane B on July 02, 2011
@gorpy81 ...you r right bro, all the world has derived their languages from
Hindi, they have nothing their own, even Adam and Eve used to speak Hindi...
sikhrocks on July 12, 2011
@melbournepure If u can tell me why urdu originated in INDIA and what was
the need of this when moghuls ahd their own lang.

mere k0 kia maro ge meri jan Allah hafiz
Dane B on August 02, 2011
@bidritiger ...there is nothing to proud about,,,but fact is that Urdu
writing scripts (not speech) is derived (not copied) from Arabic..and yes
in speech, it has sanscrit base..
