@nalinjoshi, The Tabla..wonderful indeed, the whole song it is playing its rhytm like a constantily heartbeat..but then when it stops for a second..the heart rhytm feels like stopping...woow..salamat it is..then the tabla and rest joins again..and the heart beats..again..Great!

yes shankar jaikishen were fab music directors, no doubt but the songs sung by the one and only Rafi saab were their biggest hits. They worked with othr male playbacks but none of thoss songs ever reached the heights tht the songs sung by Rafi saab did. We have also seen many many equally good music directors (as s & k) but there has NEVER,NOR WILL THERE EVER BE any one like Rafi saab.

There in no denying that we were lucky to live when Rafi saab came into this world and sang countless beautifule songs.

You are entitled to your view points and I am entitled to mine. I believe that without composer and lyricist, there is no song.

All im merely trying to point out is the fact tht there were many equally good music directors but there was n will ever be one Rafi saab, as for there being no song without composer n lyricist, thts obvious, but had any other singer sung this, it wud not hav been as beautiful or as big a hit as it is.

I went CRAZY searching 4 this truly AMAZING MELODIOUS, NECTARINE FILLED Voice 4 thisSong sung by RafiSaheb &Equally Sweet voice of Lataji.THis song somehow out of the blue came into the depths of my being while half asleep&

I zhould add this as a footnote,that the Lyrics,Music,Tune is unbelievable.The 2nd line of the 1st stanza"SaagarSeGehriTumhari NighaenDubodeNaHamko",feels is the beginning 4this song.What a beautiful classic.Rafi's voice is dripping with such nectar,melody Romance&What a voice.I agree enthusiastically w/so many youtubers that there is no equal to RafiSaheb.He is truly a Constellation of his own.THis song represents both singers peak, touching chords of divinity in the 50s-late 60sHaydays.

I have always been made to believe that Rafi's voice was at its very best first thing in the morning before he had any breakfast. I don't know how true this is. I feel that the songs from the film Dil Tera Diwana were sung then. Rafi's voice is at its sweetest ever, more so in this song. The best ever in my view.

SJ were great mds during late forties, fifties and sixties. In numerable songs to their credit. Pioneers in many ways. This song has their blue print all over and nowhere close to any song of Madan Mohan. Check out another duet from Gumnaam by Rafi and Sharada

I think Mala Sinha has been a bit under rated.
Personally, my take is that she's absolutely BRILLIANT.
And today's Pretenders-to-be-an-actress simply DON'T stand up to her, either in acting ability OR sheer sensuality.
