The song is not picturised imaginatively which kills the song. Sanjay Khan was always a poor director.
Had Kishore da sung this song it would have become a great hit.

the better voice for the sitiuation. Kishore da would have sung in his
style, but that voice would not have suite for Sanjay Khan in this mood. In

@psycho2101 Very relevant comment. R.D.Burman was no doubt a musical genius
but his prejudices eventually led to his decline. Low diversity in the
choice of singers made his music sound somewhat repetitive and lacking
variety. Several of his compositions could have become chart busters had
they been recorded with Rafi.

Rafi sahib passed away 30 years ago (31 July 1980), but his legend lives on as his voice still continues to entertain and amaze millions around the world. No one replaced humble, modest and pious Rafi sahib. He changed Indian film playback and music industry forever. He is a book on how to sing. His playback voice changed the fate of most Indian film actors, and made them superstars of their time. I am honoured to have met him, be his family's neighbour in London-UK. RIP Mohammed Rafi.
