unexplained reason, he practically forgot Rafi for about 6 years(first half
of the seventies). Thereafter,increasing competition made him probably
realize his folly and he reverted back to Rafi. This superb song is an
outcome of the homecoming. Alas,it was shortlived because the world's
greatest singer passed away unexpectedly in 1980.

painful for music lovers. It was one of the biggest waste ever in the
history of indian music. It was a betrayal not to Rafi but to all music
lovers. We were all deprived of this talent. It was like locking all your
wealth in a box and not using a penny from it. After his death they all
realized that no money in the world could buy and bring back those 6
precious years. I consider their action as a big crime.

rafi lost a few years becos of amitabh.he thought that kishore's voice
suited him better and he wanted kishore kumar to sing his songs.if u look
carefully in the early seventies almost all amitabh songs are sung by
kishore.both were good singers but rafi was a notch better.u can voices
which come close to kishore but not rafi.he was one of a kind.

I agree with you. My Nani and I both love Kishore while my mom is a big Rafi fan. You are right, it depends on personal preference. Though I do acknowledge that Rafi was talented but Kishore Kumar was in a league of his own.

Mukesh and Kishore were both excellent singers. But Rafi was special his voice makes you come back for more and more. He sang in so many styles funny, sad, gazals quawli's the last goes on. He was and still is the greatest indian playback singer!

I often read comparisons between Kishore and Rafi - To me the question is absurd - both have such different voices and both have sung such superb songs that the voices cannot be compared - What Kishore sung, Rafi cd not and what Rafi Sahib sung Kishore cd not - I mean, can you imagine, can someone imagine Kishore singing - Jab bhi yeh dil udaas hota hai? No one in this world can sing this song other than Rafi. And similarly, from Aradhana onwards, although Rafi's creative phase was almost over.

Hello everyone! I am not an Indian but I love indian songs and I always
listen to it, I just read a couple of comments here and made me write a few
words myself, I just wanted to say that kishore kumar and Muhammad Rafi
they both were great singers the only different I see is, M Rafi is most
known world widely, but if you want to compare their voices you can't tell
which one was better coz they both had wonderful voices.
