You twisted the sentence, Kishore suggested RDB to get it sung it Lataji
because it's based on raag SIvaranjani, which he thought would help him,
but when you listen to him you can't even imagine that Lataji did it first,
Kishore another marvelous job if not better than Lata then no less than
lata too. :)

According to R.D Burman, the song was based on Shivranjanji Raag which apparently Kishore Kumar had no idea of. Kishore da said "raag ki asi ki taisi I will sing it". So Kishore Kumar let R.D do the recording with Lata first. After the recording Kishore da understood the way to sing this song and he practiced it for over a week, memorized the song with each and every twist and tone. After a week R.D recorded the song with Kishore Da and rest is HISTORY!!!!
