Thanks so much for the post. Amazing music, fabulous lyrics, beautiful
picturisation and on top of all, the evergreen khanakdar voice of Asha
Bhosle.. flawless range in her vocals!
panchamam on July 18, 2007
How can she be sooooooooooooo sweet!Gulzar saab's sheer sensitivity &
Pancham da's timeless tune.. Just want to thank you for sharing this gem.

Darren Lalloo on November 20, 2007
nice song, do you happen to have the lyrics anywhere?
anuj127in on December 09, 2007
that is one incredibly rude comment. Try to appreciate what you get since
others are doing out of their own time, they don't have an obligation!
moodrush on January 11, 2008
wow, this is a pleasant surprise, thank you. did Doordarshan release NAMKEEN on video? if yes, i'll look for it 'cos my memory of the film is pretty hazy. I remember some of teh dialogue and the performances towards the end.
moodrush on January 11, 2008
*SPOILER ALERT* i've a vague recollection of the scene when the houseguest returns after some time & is surprised to find Shabana Aazmi alone in the house. the film cuts to a night shot of SA sitting against the wall, & she delivers a heart wrenching line @ how although everyone has moved on in one way or another, she never considered leaving -- she is destined to/chooses to remain married to the house.
moodrush on January 11, 2008
but that couldn't have been SA 'cos she plays the mute sister, so that must've been Sharmila Tagore...unless I'm getting it confused w/ another film 'cos there's no shortage of self-sacrificing women in Indian cinema and reality...
whoisdaboss on April 05, 2008

you can walk with such rhythmic grace only while wearing a sari or lehenga.. not pants!

phir se aiyo badra bidesi tere pankhon pe moti jhadoongi bharke jaiyo hamari kalaiya main talaiya kinare miloongi
tujhe mere kaale kaale baalon ki sau
phirse.

teri jaane ki rut main jaanti hoon
mudke aaane ki hai ke nahi
kaale badlo se mai poochiongi jake
tere man menin bhi pi hai ke nahi
kachi niliya se ho ke guzariyo
kachi naliyon kinare miloongi,,,,
tu jo ruk jaye
meri atariya
mein apne jaan lagado

apne saajan se bindiya

girl that cannot speak and is in love with a truck driver-again has come the cloud from afar, I will place pearls on its wings
your going away season is known to me, turning around and coming back is there in the agenda I dont know-black clouds I will ask if you too have the same tenderness-pass through the weak bridge i will meet you there come again far away clouds..-you are promised on my black black curls-if you stay my attic i will give my life-i will ask my lover to give bindiya(marry
peddammayi on November 22, 2009
a girl gets a right for shringar or decoration with bindi-forehead spot, choodiyan-bangles and other adornment upon marriage- these are symbolic objects associated with wedding bliss while actually alluding to a satisfied relationship/partnership that is desired by a girl... so a girl in love before marriage is one that is optimistic and dreams of the ultimate bliss and fulfilment through the idealistic relationship legitimised by marriage
peddammayi on November 22, 2009
bhake jaiyo hamari kalaiya
fill my wrists with bangles

and then go away?
for me to pine in the pain of separation

the romance of the monsoons and its effect on lovers was immortalised by the ancient poet
kalidas in 'meghasandesam' and finds reverberations in this song too.
nevermindgames on December 04, 2009
