@narushkas Umrao Jaan is the name of the main character in the movie. she is a courtesan in the movie. the plot is as follows: at a young age, Umrao Jaan was kidnapped by an enemy of her father.. she was sold to a brothal where she got brought up learning the art of dancing and singing.. as she grows up to be a very famous courtesan (cuz of her voice) her live takes different paths of love.. lost.. sadness and in the end loneliness. it's a beautiful story... it's worth a watch!

I love periodic movies & this movie ia one of the best. I love Aishwarya &
i thik only she can play periodic role like. Her beauty & ROYAL look is fit
for other roles like Mastsni (Bajirao-Mastani), Anarkali, Razia Sultaan,
Paakizah, Jhansi ki Raani, Etc. Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali have to
realse there no other option for Mastani rather than Aishwarya!

Aish has made a lot of efforts in the dances of this film. Performing
Mujra-typed of songs is not easy. A lot relies on the expressivity of the
actress. She is not 100% perfect as a natural (Sridevi) or a method actress
(Rekha) would be, but she is good! There is a bit of fragility in the song,
and her face suits the role very well!
