In Both the songs , " Thuje kya sunaavu mai dilruba (Sekhar,Rafi,MadanMohan,Aakhari daav) and in this song " Shammi " appears as an " Extra " only---Arani Apparao-Hyderabad-A.P.

@araniees-The song itself is stunning not only for Talat's lilt but for the
most romantic nay delicately sensuous picturization. Shammi lierally seems
to be floating in Dilip's charm.personally i like Aakhri Dau though for
Nutan's expression of awkward love, pity, respect, confusion and
helplessness.I watched it a million times and would watch a billion more
times;-)

@araniees Both these songs have a similar melody. In fact, the late music
director Sajjad Hussein is said to have complained to the late music
director Madan Mohan about it. I am sure, this must have been only a divine
coincidence since both these Music Directors were original, melodious and
great.

Talat Mahmood also soulfully sang Main dil hoon ek armaan bhara too aake
mujhe pehchan zara in Anhonee(1952) where the SOLE musical accompaniment
was a PIANO Therefore not all WESTERN instruments are to be derided as
appears from your post- Musics music whether Indian or Western- One form
does not get better by putting down the other- for real music lovers- We
should refrain from nationalistic jingoism which is the domain of

Sorry that you were offended by my feedback to the original poster based on
the beautiful post he had along with the song which is visible only when
you ask it to show more. Not sure you saw it. I agree this is a beautiful
song but this was a dialogue with him. I have read the book - just haven't
seen the movie, and the plot summary is abbreviated and the summary has
little to resemble the core of Jane Eyre. But I will take your word for it
- and hope I get to see it.

Having now seen the movie, I agree that it is definitely an adaptation
(very loose, and very Indian) adaptation of Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
The whole plot twist of childhood sweethearts separated and later meeting
and falling in love is of course a completely new twist to the original.
