Wow! What a sweet surprise to find this song I've cherished since my
childhood that my dear late father used to love! He gave me my sense of
deep appreciation for songs like this rare Gem among other vintage songs.
There was a fresh sense of innocence & depth in these old songs - be it in
a cheerful romantic song or a nostalgic sad song like this, with a soul
stirring depth & pain expressed in sweet simplicity! Thank you! Mirzaji,

How sweet is the dard in CHA's voice with just soft support from the Sitar
and Tabla! And as usual, your montage of images makes the experience of
listening even more enjoyable.This geet has been a favorite of mine-- and
of millions of others-- for decades. Thank you,Mirzaji. P.S. A joker-singer
in my college days used to regale us by turning the first line into a tired

Nice song. Credit to O P Nayyar who wrote this song and induced him(CHA a
collegemate of Nayyar) to sing before HMV and believe me the singer made a
good wealth. Nayyar by then composed it for Mr & Mrs 55 in which Geeta Dutt
sang and it also became a hit. Thanks for the upload.

This was the first tune composed by the untrained genius O.P.Nayyar!! he
was just 18 when he composed this tune. HMV paid him 40 rupees for this
tune. What happened later is history and thanks to HMV for recognizing a
young genius!

Story goes HMV offered OP continuing royalty or a lump sum fee of Rs. 75,
and being young, he took the latter. He would have earned lakhs in royalty,
so popular was this song. He did use it again in Geeta's voice...
