As a kid, this was my first exposure to the exquisite combination of Raja Mehdi Ali Khan's lyrics and Madan Mohan's composition. (On a 45rpm vinyl, no less!) To this date, I believe their creative genius has produced some the most beautiful, melodious, and soulful songs in Hindi music. And this particular song holds a special place in my heart. Had never seen the movie/video before. Thanks for posting.

The original was marathi film - Pathlaag by Kashinath Ghanekar and Bhavna.
It came in Hindi as Mera Saya followed by Tamil- Idayakamalam. Surprisingly
all the films got several awards including this song which has similar tune
in all the languages. This is a rare example where the same film is
produced by different producers in different languages, acted by different
artists, composed by different composers and sung by different singers but

Proof, you may ask Anand ji and kalayan ji, and he also said it in his
concert. and you may also look it up on you tube. Anyone who is anybody in
the music scene in india knows this. This is not the only song by sarahang
used by kalyan ji and anand ji for hindi films.
